Friday 26th April

8.30am to 10.30am Literary Breakfast at the Manning Hotel, Bowral with
David and Gerda Foster - discussing their book, A Year of Slow Food
5pm - 8pm Antiquarian Book Fair open in Memorial Hall. Jazz band
playing in courtyard next door. Fair closes at 8pm.
8.30pm Official opening in courtyard / Town Hall by Mayor and IMB Chairman, Professor Ken McKinnon, followed by poet Les Murray reading.

Saturday 27th April


10am to 5pm - Antiquarian Book Fair open in Memorial Hall ($3 entry fee per person/ $5 per family)

10am to 4pm - Town Hall & Library exhibitions open - 80 years of Ginger
Meggs; Bradman and the Book; The History of the Book in Australia; and hand-crafted books by local
schools and artists

Publishing talks in Henrietta Rose Room of the Town Hall
11am ParkerPattinson Publishing - family histories and self publishing
12 noon Ron Pretty - Poetry Australia Foundation & Five Islands Press,
discussing the poetry publishing industry
1pm Play publishing with John Senczuk, includes readings of new works by
students from the Faculty of Creative Arts at Wollongong University

industry
3.30pm Panel including Frank Moorhouse, Professor Martyn Lyons, and representatives from the Australian Society of Authors including Jose` Borghino (CEO), the Managing Editor from Allen
and Unwin, Rebecca Kaiser; Van Badham from the SCWC, Catherine Hammond,
freelance editor and Chris Hosking eInfo Solutions, with moderator Paul McShane
from the Southern Highlands Booksellers Association - discussing the
future of the book and reading. Open to Q&A from audience.

Panel seminar ends with celebratory cake cut for the bicentenary of the first book published in
Australia. A facsimile copy of this book will be on display in the Old town Hall exhibition.
